Course Outline and approximate timelines:

• Chapters 1 to 8 and chapter 9 if time permits
• Chapters 1 and 2: nine days (test)
• Chapters 3 and 4: twelve days (test)
• Chapter 5: ten days (test)
• Chapter 6: nine days (test)
• Chapter 7: twenty days (test)
• Chapter 8: ten days (test)

Marking Scheme

Term: 60% of mark
Final Exam: 40% of mark

Breakdown of term marks

25% lab and reading assignments
The lab will be marked on work in the lab as well as' the write up. The reading assignments will consist of reading articles on chemistry and writing a one page summary.

60%
Chapter tests and quizzes will be worth half of the term mark.

midterm
There will be no midterm in this course.

10% homework
Homework will be checked on a regular basis and a mark assigned

5% special projects
This mark is reserved for special topics which may come up during the term.
