COMPUTER ASSISTED MANUFACTURING 110

NOTE:This course is recognized as an elective for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering at U.N.B. This course also meets the computer literacy criteria.

This course explores and demonstrates the Computer Assisted Machining (CAM) aspect of medern manufacturing methods. Students use computers to create a data base which describes objects that are to be manufactured. The students then use the computer generated information to operate computer-controlled machines and will actually manufacture those products. Instruction time is divided between theory, computer labs and production labs. This course appeals to and benefits a variety of students, such as those interested in computers and computer applications, those considering a future in mechanical engineering or drafting technology, and those pursuing a career in the metals processing areas.
