Topic: Quiz-me Cubes
Background: This project is designed to help students who learn visually and hands-on.
Process:
1. Choose a piece of poster board about 30 cm by 20 cm. Create a cube from the following plan. Pay
attention to the fold lines. Measure and cut carefully.
2. Print or draw the following 12 terms on the inside and outside faces of the cube.
a) lion, b) leopard, c) civet, d) springhare, e) antelope, f) Sumatran tiger, g) Indonesian gibbon,
h) bushbaby, i) pride, j) trees, k) matriarch, l) poaching.
3. Cut out twelve 7 cm by 7 cm poster board cards. Print the following twelve phrases on the cards.
1. resembles a rabbit 2. rest spot for leopards 3. endangered, large, rainforest cat
4. tree-dweller, occasionally eats insects 5. hunts in groups 6. the illegal killing of animals
7. lives a solitary life 8. a common prey of lions 9. the males care for the young
10. she leads the hunt 11. small cat-like carnivore 12. name for a lion family.
4. On the back of each card, print the answer from the same 12 terms on the faces of the cube (in Q 2.).
5. Place the cards in the cube and close the flaps.
Use: when the cube is opened, one person takes the cards and the other person looks at the terms on the
cube's faces. The first person reads the phrase on a card and the second person chooses the answer
from the terms on the cube faces. Continue until the second person has chosen all 12 correct
answers.
