Announcements:
-
Announcements, as you can see, are made prior to the beginning of First
Period only. Students should listen
quietly to these announcements.
Attendance:
-
Attendance for each class is done by computer (E-Class). Each teacher has their own ID and
password. Please keep a written record
for the teacher you are supplying for, so they can record this upon their
return.
-
If a student presents an excuse to you, keep the excuse. Make a note for the teacher that you received
the excuse. Leave the excuse in the
teacher’s mailbox in the office.
Fire Alarm:
-
Check the classroom in which you are working to see the sign posted
indicating the exit this class takes in the event of a fire alarm. This sign should be posted next to the door.
Discipline:
-
Although most students will be very cooperative and not take advantage
of this situation, there are some who may decide to test you. Handle this as your experience and judgement
dictate. However, you do not have to
tolerate a student who is repeatedly rude, uncooperative and disruptive. If there is a problem that you think requires
the student to be sent from the room and to be seen by an administrator, be sure
you have the student’s name and send him/her to see a Vice-Principal
(Ms. Tomilson A-F), (Mr.
Atkinson G-M) and (Mr. Smith N-Z). If you send
a student out, please submit a written version of the incident to the
appropriate Vice-Principal before you leave at the end of the day.
Discipline cont’d:
-
Students are not permitted to wear hats in this building.
-
Unless there is an obvious emergency, students should not be allowed to
leave the classroom while a class is in progress. If a student asks to leave the building, they
must have an excuse from home. If the
student does not have an excuse, they must report to the office to sign out.
-
Students are permitted to leave the room for appointments with Mrs. Morrison
and Mr. Howe (Guidance), however they should present a
note to indicate this appointment. They
may also leave for school sponsored events.
See the bulletin board in the office for a list of students.
Supervision:
-
Every week, each teacher is responsible for an assigned supervision of
the busses or noon hour cafeteria and corridor duty. The teacher whom you are replacing should
leave you information regarding what duty they have. If not, there is a duty roster posted on the
main bulletin board in the office and also above the supply teacher sign-in
sheet on the counter in the main office.
Audio/Visual Equipment:
-
Televisions and VCR’s are available in each department’s workroom. If you require such equipment for your lesson
plan, please contact the Department Head regarding their usage.
Telephones:
-
A telephone is available in the workroom. If you need to contact the main office,
dial –5767. Dial 9 to get an outside line.
Lunch:
-
Most teachers eat their lunches in the main staffroom. If you have not brought a lunch, you can
purchase one in the cafeteria.
When in doubt…..:
-
If you need assistance or information, please do not hesitate to ask
the office or any member of staff.
Paper Work:
-
Please sign into the office before you begin your day. Before you leave for the day be sure to fill out
the appropriate forms for pay purposes.
Leave a note for the teacher indicating work covered and any information
concerning your day that you think they should know.
Thank
you for your assistance today and we hope that your day at KVHS has been enjoyable!
